School Immunization Requirements – Indiana
Information from the Clark County Health Department about required vaccinations for students entering Kindergarten, Grade 6, or Grade 12.
Kindergarten Requirements
All students entering Kindergarten in Indiana are required to have received the following vaccines prior to the first day of school:
- 5 DTaP
- 4 IPV
- 3 Hepatitis B
- 2 Hepatitis A
- 2 MMR
- 2 Varicella
6th Grade Requirements
Students entering 6th grade must have all Kindergarten vaccines, plus:
- 1 MCV4 (Meningococcal)
- 1 Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis)
ACIP recommends the HPV vaccine series beginning at age 9. This is a good time to start if not already completed.
12th Grade Requirements
Students entering 12th grade must have all previous vaccines, plus:
- 1 MCV4 (2nd dose – Meningococcal)

What is PulsePoint?
More than 300,000 Americans each year suffer an out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrect (SCA) where the heart suddenly and unexpectantly stops beating. Nearly 90 percent are fatal. If treated early however, with CPR and in some cases defibrillation, the chances of survival can double or even triple.
The PulsePoint app is a program Clark County has adopted to help people within the community come together in a time of crisis. With features like “CPR Needed” notifications, to traffic updates, and a county wide map of registered AEDs, PulsePoint has proven to be a very beneficial program to our county.
PulsePoint Respond:
Launched in Clark County back in December of 2018, PulsePoint Respond is an established program that the citizens of Clark County utilize by responding to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) that occur near them. This can drastically increase the chance of survival of an individual while they are waiting for emergency care. Clark County Health Department offers free monthly CPR trainings on the second Tuesday of each month, you can register for these classes on EventBrite.com
App users who have indicated that they are trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and willing to assist in case of emergency can be notified if someone in proximity is having a cardiac emergency and may need CPR. This is important in case emergency services cannot reach someone fast enough. CPR trained individuals using PulsePoint Respond will be alerted simultaneously with dispatch of advanced medical care. The app also gives step by step direction to person experiencing a cardiac emergency.
PulsePoint AED:
When a cardiac emergency strikes, locating a Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can help save a life. AED’s that are managed using PulsePoint AED are accessible to emergency dispatchers and disclosed to emergency responders, including nearby citizens trained in CPR and off-duty professionals such as firefighters, paramedics, and nurse. Instead of asking the caller if there is an AED available, dispatch center staff can inform callers of nearby lifesaving devices. Clark County has 104 registered AED’s and that number continues to grow with the news of PulsePoint rapidly spreading.
